Bridging the Islands: Half Billion Euro Pašman Riviera One Step Closer

January 15, 2018 - After the Pelješac Bridge, will the island of Pašman be next in line to be linked by bridge to the mainland?

The island of Pašman is one step closer to securing a large tourism sector investment worth an estimated half a billion euro, having decided to invite calls for tender for the “Pašman Riviera” project, one of the most significant tourism projects in the whole Zadar region. Produced by Zadar-based consultancy Hosting International in collaboration with the Municipality of Pašman, the project includes the construction of a new Dalmatian destination on one of the most attractive bays on the island of Pašman.

Four years ago the municipality obtained ownership of the land for this ambitious tourism project, which has already attracted the attention of several consortiums of private investors but only time will tell how interested the investors truly are.

In fact, the attractiveness of the investment relies heavily on overcoming some considerable obstacles to do with the current state of the island’s infrastructure deemed inadequate in light of the planned tourist complex, which is expected to attract 4000 guests and ensure a quality holiday and the fact that, regardless of the island’s relative closeness to the mainland (2217m), it is still an island.

A bridge between the island and the mainland would definitely help in securing the investment, by reducing the costs to investors and facilitating access to the tourist resort. There are several interested parties for the construction of the bridge, which would cost an estimated 120 million euro.

“The design and construction of the bridge could be completed before the actual investment in the tourist resort” states the Mayor of the Municipality of Pašman, Krešimir Ćosić.
