ZAGREB, February 3, 2018 - Social Democratic Party (SDP) leader Davor Bernardić said on Saturday that the fees charged by firms acting as consultants in the process of restructuring of the Agrokor company were a legal rip-off and that Economy Minister Martina Dalić's claims that she had not been aware of the amount of those frees were scandalous and humiliated citizens and Agrokor employees.
"This is a political circus... and a legal rip-off... Dalić's statements are scandalous and humiliate all citizens and Agrokor workers. The parliament speaker's comment was that it was not nice - it's not nice that 27,000 Agrokor employees cannot earn in 20 years of service what the government's commissioner in Agrokor (Ante Ramljak) earns in just one month," Bernardić said, wondering why Prime Minister Andrej Plenković was not commenting on the matter.
He said that at a planned special session of the Parliament's Committee on Economy its members from the SDP would have to ask Ramljak about the matter.
In an interview with Nova TV on Friday, Dalić said that it was not Ramljak but Alastair Beveridge of AlixPartners, a firm hired to provide consultancy services in Agrokor's restructuring, who chose Ramljak's former company as a subcontractor in the restructuring process.
Ramljak enjoys my trust as long as he conducts the restructuring process in line with the law, Dalić said.
