ZAGREB, February 19, 2018 - A total of 825 building permits were issued in Croatia in December 2017, 5% fewer than the year before, while the value of work performed under the building permits issued decreased by 14% to 2.53 billion kuna, according to data from the Central Bureau of Statistics (DZS).
This was the first time in 20 months that the number of building permits issued had fallen year on year.
Broken down by type of construction, 683 permits (82.8%) were issued for buildings and 142 (17.2%) for other structures. By type of work, 594 (72%) permits were issued for new buildings and 231 (28%) for reconstruction projects.
A total of 9,418 building permits were issued in the whole of 2017, an increase of 17.5% over 2016. Of that number, 7,776 were issued for buildings and 1,642 for other structures.
