Croatia to Attend World Bank and IMF Spring Meetings

ZAGREB, April 19, 2018 - A Croatian delegation, consisting of representatives of the Finance Ministry and the Croatian National Bank, will attend the spring meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington from 19 to 22 April, the Finance Ministry announced in a press release on Thursday.

The delegation, led by Finance Minister Zdravko Marić, is scheduled to hold a series of meetings with World Bank officials, including with Vice President for Europe and Central Asia Cyril Muller, Director for Operations in the European Union Arup Banerji, Chief Economist Shanta Devarajan, the Doing Business team, and Executive Director Frank Heemskerk. Also scheduled is a meeting with representatives of the International Finance Corporation (IFC).

The talks with the World Bank officials will focus on the preparation of a new cooperation strategy between Croatia and the World Bank, further activities in the preparation and approval of new projects, and on ongoing projects.

The Croatian delegation is also due to meet with IMF officials, namely with European Department Director Paul M. Thomsen, Executive Director Anthony De Lannoy, Alternate Executive Director Richard Doornbosch, and Croatia Mission Chief Khaled Sakr. They will discuss the macroeconomic situation in Croatia, and monetary and fiscal policy measures.

The Croatian delegation will also meet with representatives of the European Investment Bank and other investors and banks, the press release said.
