By 16 May 2018

ZAGREB, May 16, 2018 – Croatian Telekom (HT) on Tuesday denied allegations of business irregularities and causing damage to the company, shareholders and state budget, responding to claims by the chairman of the parliamentary National Council for Monitoring Anti-Corruption Strategy Implementation Željko Jovanović regarding the purchase of Deutsche Telekom bonds worth 125 million euro.

"Croatian Telekom most strongly denies the allegations of any irregularities in business operations and the allegations of damage caused to the company, shareholders and state budget," HT said in response to a query from Hina.

The company said it operates absolutely transparently, observes all laws and duly meets all its obligations towards its shareholders. "Data on the company's business operations is publicly available," HT concluded.

Earlier in the day, Jovanović sent a letter to Chief State Prosecutor Dražen Jelenić asking what steps had been taken regarding alleged irregularities in the purchase of Deutsche Telekom bonds worth 125 million euro by Croatian Telekom (HT) in December 2016.

Based on a petition by Zagreb entrepreneur Hrvoje Šimić to the parliamentary Petitions and Appeals Committee, Deputy Speaker Siniša Hajdaš Dončić also called on the Committee to discuss the alleged irregularities in HT.
