Large Investment in D-Marin Marinas in Greece, Turkey, and Croatia

A 70 million euro investment in D-Marin marinas, ten of which are managed in Greece, Turkey, and here in Croatia.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 29th of May, 2018, as part of the largest investment in the tourism sector in its history, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed a purchase contract with an approximate 25 percent stake, becoming a shareholder of D Marinas B.V., a holding company currently managing a 10-strong marina network across Croatia, Greece and Turkey, and which operates under the brand name D-Marin.

With EBRD's massive investment worth 70 million euro, company development plans will be funded, including the development of marina management, future acquisitions, and diversification.

D Marinas B.V. is the largest and only international chain of marinas operating in the Eastern Mediterranean, managing more than 8,000 berths. The company's owner is Doğuş Holding A.S., one of the leading business groups in Turkey and a long-standing and well respected EBRD partner.

The expansion of business will enable tourism development at the local level, as well as stimulate further growth and result in very welcome job creation. The project also includes the use of technical resources from EBRD's Special Funds for the purpose of financing education programs with the aim of opening up new opportunities for both education and eventual work, especially for young people and for women.

This huge investment has been realised as part of the new EBRD's Inclusive Tourism for the Eastern Mediterranean, whose aim is to support growth and tourism development on local levels through investments in both hotels and tourism companies.

EBRD's First Vice-President, Jurgen Rigterink, stated at the signing of the contract in Zagreb: "We expect this investment to open up new opportunities for local businesses and to create new jobs. The start of the tourist season is a good time for signing the contract for such an important investment, with which the EBRD provides the capital needed for the continuation of development.''

D-Marin manages ten marinas in Croatia, as well as in Greece and Turkey, making it one of the largest international chains in the eastern Mediterranean, employing a total of 502 employees, out of which 155 are in Croatia.
