ZAGREB, September 17, 2018 - Employers in Croatia expect the pace of hiring to weaken by the end of this year in comparison to Q3 2018, and small businesses are the most cautious in their plans, according to a survey conducted by the ManpowerGroup, specialised in human resources and job opportunities.
The optimism which Croatian employers showed regarding hiring forecasts in the previous two quarters of this year has been replaced by cautious projections for employment in the next quarter.
The net hiring forecast stands at 9%, falling by 17 percentage points, according to the latest Employment Outlook Survey.
The poll in Croatia covered 620 employers who were asked what changes they expected in hiring in the last quarter of this year as against Q3.
The number of jobs created will rise, albeit at a slower pace.
Of eight industrial sectors, the manufacturing sector is likely to see the highest amount of hiring. The net hiring forecast for this sector is +26%, only two percentage points lower than in forecasts for the previous quarter (Q3), according to the ManpowerGroup agency.
Tourism and the hospitality industry are to experience a decline (-12%) in hiring in Q4 2018.
Broken down by region, central Croatia is likely to see an increase in hiring of 18%.
