Hotel Investment Boom in Central Dalmatia

By 29 March 2016

All hotels will be ready for the season, some are already sold out

Tens of millions of Euros have been invested in new tourism accommodation facilities across Dalmatia, reports HRT on March 28, 2016. Investments are mostly domestic, even though the arrival of international hotel brands has been announced, and in some hotels that will open in June this year, accommodation is already sold out.

Hotel Pharos on the island Hvar is one of the larger investments in tourism in Central Dalmatia in 2016. Owners are investing 50 million kunas both in the appearance and new technologies since the hotel is aiming to attract millennials that depend on social media. This particular age group (18-33) showed the largest increase in arrivals in Central Dalmatia this Easter.

It is no secret that Ultra Europe and “Game of Thrones” have attracted many tourists in the last few years, and hotels are following the increasing demand by expanding their existing capacities. Hotel Cornaro in Split will now offer 132 rooms as a 4-star hotel, and on Makarska Riviera after over a decade of waiting for permits and funds, a former symbol of Dalmatian tourism, hotel Slavia will show its new look.

Slavia will now become a 4-star hotel with a 50 million kuna investment. Hotels Romana in Makarska and Medora in Podgora, both 4-star hotels, will also open their doors this June and according to the information provided by their management, rooms in these hotels have already been sold out for the upcoming season, mostly to guests from Scandinavia and the UK.
