March against Abortion to Take Place on Saturday in Zagreb

By 20 May 2016

According to organizers, Prime Minister’s wife is expected to join them.

Citizens' initiative March for Life will organize on Saturday in Zagreb a large gathering of citizens under the slogan "For life, family and Croatia”. The gathering will begin at 10 am at King Tomislav Square, which will be the starting point of the march which will end on the Ban Jelačić Square, reports Večernji List on May 20, 2016.

“With this peaceful march, we will express our optimism and draw attention to the dignity and value of every human life, from conception to natural death, and to the fact that every human being is the most valuable asset for family and Croatia”, say the organizers of the march.

According to sources close to the organizers, the March for Life event will be attended by Sanja Orešković, wife of Prime Minister Tihomir Orešković. It has still not been confirmed whether the Prime Minister himself will come.

Organizers emphasize that they demand societal and economic support for families and women who do not want to have an abortion.

“More than 75 percent of women who choose abortion cite economic reasons and the pressure of people around them as reasons for such decisions. We want women in Croatia to be able to better coordinate their professional and family lives. The societal and financial support to families – especially young couples and children – is the most important investment in the economy and the future of our people and our country. In Croatia, couples on average have one child less than they would like, and the reasons are usually economic difficulties. We should use specific economic measures to enable those who love and want children to have them”, says the initiative Match for Life, adding that they want to publicly express their joy because they are living in Croatia where they want to raise their families and children.

The citizens' initiative March for Life brings together a number of conservative associations, movements and communities, such as U Ime Obitelji, The Heart of Jesus Prayer Community, God's Victory Association, Vigilare Association, and many others.
