Best Seafood Restaurants in Split? Look No Further!

Split, being the second largest city in Croatia, has an incredible amount to offer. From Diocletian’s Palace, to idyllic isles, and maybe most importantly: street lined restaurants selling succulent seafood.

It’s hard enough to decide where your next meal will be in Split, with a plentitude of options and a cheerful maître d' awaiting your arrival, it can get increasingly overwhelming. Because we encourage you to live like Dalmatian’s do when you’re in our city (all about relaxing) and because we know Split like the back of our hands, we’re here to narrow this down for you simply. Here are two of the best seafood restaurants in Split, for those nights you’re in Split and well, you want seafood!

Tavern Matejuška is located on the ground floor of Villa Matejuška, an old Dalmatian stone house from the 19th century. With 6 apartments nestled above you, Tavern Matejuška is set in classic Split ambiance, transporting you back to the old style konobas of Split, Veli Varoš, and Matejuška. Located only a 5 minute walk from the riva, Tavern Matejuška is located on Ul. Tomića stine 3. They serve only the finest and freshest caught fish, with a limited seafood menu and specials based on availability. Hopefully they’ll have Girice, Mol, Tuna, Lignja, Pas, Cipal, Komarča, Arkaj, Lubin, Lica, Arbun, or Zubatac, but when they’re out, they’re out. They also offer famous Dalmatian dishes and vegetarian options which can be found on their daily menu. Don’t forget to try their prosciutto! Tavern Matejuška is open from Monday to Sunday, 8:00 - 23:00.

Konoba Marjan is located literally around the corner from Tavern Matejuška, at the beginning of your way up to Marjan hill. This small, family-run konoba is in the heart of the Varoš quarter. A long standing local favorite, essentially everything in Adriatic seafood repertoire is here. At Konoba Marjan you’ll find your grilled fresh fish, seafood risottos, scampi, and squid. You’ll also find traditional Dalmatian fare like pašticada (traditional Dalmatian stew). Daily specials range anywhere from black risotto, octopus brujet, goulash or mussels in a white wine sauce. And much like Tavern Matejuška, when they’re out, that’s it! The wine list is excellent, showcasing local boutique wineries and a sommelier at your service. There are also a few seats outside on the street leading up to the Marjan hill. Located on Senjska 1, Konoba Marjan is usually open daily from 12:00 - 22:00.
