Zdravko Mamić Assaulted In Front Of Court In Split

Attackers were wearing masks and threw flares, bottles and smoke bombs at the Dinamo boss.

Zdravko Mamić arrived in Split on May 31, 2016, to appear in the trial relating to his brawl with former Hajduk player Ivo Bego at Poljud Stadium in 2014. Just as he was getting out of his car together with his lawyer, Čedo Prodanović he was assaulted by unknown attackers.

The attackers were wearing masks and threw flares, bottles and smoke bombs at him. Mamić and Prodanović escaped to the security of the courthouse, and nobody was hurt in the assault. The driver left the venue, and only one random car parked in the area was damaged in the process.

Mamić stood up in front of the judge Stipe Roso and asked for the trial to be moved to Zagreb, as he has stated that he is not feeling safe in Split anymore. As the judge continued the hearing, he said that he will decide on that matter later, and Mamić left the court anyway.

He left Split accompanied by the police. We talked with some prominent lawyers regarding this issue, and they have told us that Mamić could be held in contempt of the court for leaving the hearing without being excused by the judge, but they are in doubt that this would be the case.
