Croatian and Turkish Football Fans Show the World How its Done

By 12 June 2016

Even though the organisers of Euro 2016 characterised the Turkey - Croatia match as a high risk one, fans of both teams proved them wrong.

While the world watched the ugly scenes and confrontations between Russian Ultra hooligans and England fans in Marseille in disbelief so that even UEFA is now threatening to disqualify both teams from the championship if the violence continues, on June 12, 2016, Croatian and Turkish fans reminded everyone what football and sportsmanship are all about. Even though the game itself was classified as a high-risk one by the organisers of Euro 2016, the streets of Paris showed a completely different picture before the game.

Fans of both teams met in the heart of Paris, and while heavy police forces were ready to act in case of any trouble, fans did the only thing no one was expecting, they raced to greet each other and started taking group photos, singing and cheering together.

The only battle that went on between the two groups located in front of the Les princes restaurant in Paris was who will cheer the loudest. "We came here to celebrate football, not to fight and destroy the city. We'll have a beer or two after the game, and who knows maybe Turkish fans will buy a kebab or two" one of the fans commented on the atmosphere.
And while the football world is talking about Modric's fantastic goal, one of the fans will definitely be the talk of his town after he managed to escape the stadium security in order to celebrate with the team. He will probably be banned from attending any other game during the championship but he got his 2 minutes of fame.

Let's hope this positive atmosphere continues before and during our next games against the Chezh Republic and Spain.
