Slaven Bilić Visits Međugorje

By 24 June 2016

West Ham’s manager visits Međugorje before new football season begins.

Slaven Bilić, the coach of West Ham, together with his wife Ivana and a daughter, visited Međugorje and the Apparition Hill in Bijakovići in the Međugorje parish, where he prayed with his family next to the statue of Our Lady. He said he found peace of mind there before the new season of English Premiership starts, reports Večernji List on June 24, 2016.

He came to Međugorje in order to fill his “spiritual batteries” in between the European Championships and the start of the new football season. Before coming to Međugorje, he spent 12 days in Paris where he followed the European Football Championships and commented for the British television. Before returning to London, he decided to visit the Marian shrine in Međugorje.

During his visit, he discussed what Međugorje meant to him. “It means a lot to me. Although these are our personal matters, I have to say that I came here to pray and to fill my soul and my family’s soul with peace. Međugorje means a lot to us in that regard”, said Bilić.

After Međugorje, Bilić will travel to London and start the training for the new season with his team on 1 July. By visiting the pilgrimage site, Slaven Bilić demonstrated how much he cared about the faith on which he relies all his life. It is certain he will come back.

On Friday, Međugorje marks the 35th anniversary of the first apparition, which took place on 24 June 1981.
