DriveIn Kebab Turning into One of the Late Night Favourites in Zagreb

By 28 June 2016

The concept was never before seen in Zagreb when it comes to kebab venues.

You get your kebab without leaving your car. But, if you want to, you can also walk to it, people from Hot&Fresh Kebab joked. The old parking lot at the corner of Tratinska Street i Florijan Andrašec Street in Zagreb has been turned into a DriveIn, similar to the McDonald’s concept. It seems that the owners have really hit the spot, as residents of Croatia’s capital are coming regularly to their place to enjoy the food, reports Večernji List on June 26, 2016.

“We have chicken or veal kebab and, of course, you can add a variety of ingredients”, said Neven Sunko referring to the kinds of kebabs offered in Tratinska Street. This is the first ever kebab DriveIn place in Croatia, the server at the Hot&Fresh pointed out, and by the end of the year they will open more. “Two or three new locations will be open, depending on what the owners decide. Of course, they considered this next move only after they saw that the business in this one was blooming“, Sunko said. They serve the customers from 10 am to 1.30 am, except on Saturdays and Sundays when kebabs can be ordered until 4am.

People get particularly hungry during the weekends. “These are young people that are coming back from parties. After all the dancing they did, they need an energy boost”, Sunko laughs, adding that he never had any unpleasant experiences with customers and he hopes it will never get to that. On weekends, he explained, people are mostly coming on foot to order their food, while on weekdays the customers are usually in a hurry, so they order kebabs from a car.

The message from the staff is simple, “You can do whatever you want. Come walking, on a bike, in a car, on an airplane… it does not matter. You will still get your kebab.”
