At the 103rd edition of the Tour de France, the most prestigious cycling race in the world, Croatian cycling will be represented by two competitors: Robert Kišerlovski who has been named as part of the nine-strong Russian tea Tinkoff and Kristijan Đurasek who was named a week ago on the team of Italian Lampre-Merida
The race, set to begin in Mont Saint-Michel and end 22 days later in Paris, will see 28-year-old Varaždin native Kristijan Đurasek compete for the third year in a row and attempt to realise his dream - reach a leg win, Dnevnik.hr reported on June 30, 2016.
His team represents three continents, with drivers coming from seven nations. The Portuguese Rui Costa, Italians Matteo Bono and Davide Cimolai, Japanese Yukiya Arashiro, Southafrican Louis Meintjes, Slovenian debutants Luka Pibernik and Jan Polanc and the first Ethiopian at the Tour Gebremaryam Grmay Tsgabu.
With great ambitions the Russian Tinkoff team heads into their last Tour appearance, whose peculiar owner Oleg Tinkoff presented nine drivers through a Facebook page feed of the best ranked world team. Tinkof declared the 33-year-old Spanish Alberto Contador as the winner of Tour de France 2016 and the road world champion Slovakian Peter Sagan the winner of the green shirt for the best Tour sprinter.
Among drivers who will assist the two in achieving their goals is Robert Kišerlovski, in his second Tour performance, after his first attempt as Astana driver in 2012 ended after a hard fall in the 14th leg. This great cycling group also has Poles Rafal Majka and Maciej Bodnar, Czech Roman Kreuziger, Italians Oscar Gatto and Metteo Tosatto and Dane Michael Valgren.
