In its third edition this year, Kino Mediteran will be returning on two special occasions to the island of Mljet.
Since 2014, Kino Mediteran has found its home in the old house of culture Goveđari, right in the heart of the national park. The national park is not only enjoyed for the nature, but also for the art galleries, exhibits, workshops and numerous other events.
Kino Mediteran is a project for cinema revival in Dalmatia that aims to renew old theaters and open air cinemas, bringing back film screenings to smaller towns where cinemas have been closed for long periods of time. The program's focus is on European and independent films. The project includes 26 towns, 12 of which have a year round program.
The events will be held from July 26-28, as well as from August 10-12. The program will open with a French comedy Asphalte which recently won the audience award at the Mediterranean Film Festival in Split. Following on the 27th is an animated film Song of the Sea, based on the Irish legend of “selkies”. The first event will close with Things to Come, the winner of the silver bear at the Berlin Film Festival.
The films will begin at 21.30h and it is encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the screening. The program for the August event and more information can be found here.
