Dinamo vs. Dinamo: Croats Closer to Champions League

By 27 July 2016

Dinamo Zagreb footballers are a step closer to Champions League after defeating their namesake from Tbilisi with 2:0

The team lead by coach Kranjčar did well in the first part against the Georgian competitor. It may not have been an impressive victory with absolute domination, but the Croatian Dinamo showed efficiency need to succeed in Europe, with optimism for the next game, Tportal.hr wrote on July 26, 2016.

At the beginning of the match the Georgian Dinamo got off to a better start and dictated the tempo, controlling midfield, but with very little efficiency in closing. All strikes went far past the goal.

The home team only had one harmless strike by Stojanovič in the 15th minute, but had their moment near the end of the first half. As supporters began to doubt the positive outcome of the match, Ćorić found Soudani with a beautiful pass, placing him alone in front of Scribe and scoring.

Only three minutes later Dinamo Zagreb rejoiced again. This time a fast counter ended with the pass by Fernandes from the left and an easy score by Ćorić from close range. The Georgian game proceeded to fall apart.

The Tbilisi team formed ranks again after the break and was an equal adversary, but continued to miss. In the 55th minute Gelashvili was alone in front of Eduardo and had to score, but sent the ball over the goal. Such a chance the guests didn’t get again, and the Croatian Dinamo came close several times to a third goal. The score remained and the Croatian champion will travel to Tbilisi next week with a comfortable 2:0. The Zagreb club is definitely close to the next stage, but must stay cautious as Georgians showed they do know how to play football.
