The Franak Association and Živi Zid Form Coalition for Parliamentary Elections

By 27 July 2016

Živi Zid, the fourth strongest party according to polls, will form a coalition with the Franak Association and the Let’s Change Croatia party.

“Members of the Franak Association will take part in September’s elections for Parliament. The government has promised us everything, but they did not do anything. Illegal interest rates are being charged, and now we will try to switch our activities to politics”, announced Goran Aleksić, coordinator of the Franak Association, reports Večernji List on July 27, 2016.

“We will go to the polls together with Ivan Lovrinović from the Let’s Change Croatia party, who has been with us from the start, and with Živi Zid, which has also supported our activities. We have signed a coalition agreement with them”, said Aleksić. The Franak Association was founded by people who took out loans in the Swiss franc, and who then had problems with repayment since the exchange rate of the franc changed substantially.

Živi Zid president Ivan Vilibor Sinčić said that he dreamed of the moment when the entire Croatian people would gather around a common goal, and that the moment had finally come. “We now call on all citizens to decide whether they want to choose failed policies of HDZ, SDP and MOST, or the other side which wants to improve the Croatian state”, said Sinčić who added that their coalition, which has no name as of yet, would fight against banks, bad laws, corruption and failed justice system. “Croatia will become a place where we will live happily. I urge all citizens to put aside all differences and disagreements and unite around one goal – our country. There is no alternative”, said Sinčić.

Ivan Lovrinović, president of the Let’s Change Croatia party, said that they had started a movement. “I have been advisor to the Franak Association for five years. It is an association which has shown that in this country it pays to be an activist and that people can change the system. The average citizen believes that the other side is so strong that they cannot do anything. But that is not true”, said Lovrinović. “This is a new story for Croatia. Here are people who have proven they can turn their activism into reality, each in its own way. Major parties think they have already settled the result of the elections, but we will disrupt their plans. Our only coalition partners are the citizens”, said Lovrinović.

The coalition will go to the polls in all parliamentary constituencies and candidate lists will be announced in due course. “We offer financial and legal security for Croatia. We are not going to deal with ideological issues”, concluded Aleksić.
