Tonči Stipanović Secured The First Olympic Medal Ever For Croatian Sailing

Tonči Stipanović has the lead which guarantees the silver before the medal race but is also the favorite for the gold

Tonči Stipanović did it! On August 13, 2016, he finished the tenth race and now has the lead which secures him at least the silver medal at the 2016 Olympics. He has a comfortable lead before the medal race which is to be sailed on Monday, and if there will be no big surprises, he is close to getting the gold.

He won the first race on Monday and had been in the leading position since. Before the medal race tomorrow, he has ten points lead over Aussie Tim Burton, and in the medal race, he will sail to defend the first place to the Australian sailor.

To win the gold, the Australian should be ahead of Stipanović five places, so all the Croat has to do in the medal race is to stay close to Burton, and experienced JK Mornar Split member is expected to be up the task.
