TCN brings you the itinerary of Croatian athletes' participation at the Olympics (all times are in Central European Time Zone)
Here is the schedule for Croatian athletes on August 17, 2016, at the Olympics:
17.30 Taekwondo
Lucija Zaninović starts her battle to win another Olympic medal. She has a real chance, as she had a good score so far with all the possible opponents all the way to the finals, but it is a tough task. Her first opponent will be Kazakhstan’s Ainur Yesbergenova.
19.05 Sailing
Šime Fantela and Igor Marenić secured the medal in the 470 class and are leading in the overall standings. In today’s medal race, they will try to defend the gold medal. Brilliant performance of our sailors in Rio deserves to be awarded the shiniest medal.
01.30 (Thursday) Handball
The Cowboys will face the Polish team in the quarter-finals of the Olympic handball tournament. They are considered favorites for the win, but Poland is an experienced team, coached by one of the best handball coaches in the World, Talant Dushebayev. As we said before the water polo quarter-finals, the players are ones to make the difference, and hopefully, Croatia will have the advantage on the court.
03.15. (Thursday) Basketball
Croatian basketball team is back where it belongs, among the best in the World. To reach the semi-finals, they will have to beat Serbia, the fierce rivals they failed to beat so many times. To overstep that obstacle, they will have to give their best, and then a little bit more, as Serbia has the experienced and strong team. In the case of loss, there can be no complaint on their overall performance, as they have already done much more than it was expected from them. Even so, Dario Šarić, Bojan Bogdanović, and many more of their teammates are natural born winners, so the surprise is not to be ruled out.
