The Croatian boxer lost to Tony Yoka by split decision
Filip Hrgović was close to getting to the finals of Olympic super-heavyweight boxing tournament on August 19. 2016, but in a tight match versus the World Champion Tony Yoka, the judges have decided that the Frenchmen was better for a point.
The split decision by the judges shows how close the battle was, and it seems that the slow start in the first round cost Filip the win. The second round was a bit better, and the third one was one to go the Croatian’s way.
Filip was disappointed after the match, but the bronze is a huge success. He had the support of Croatian rowers and other athletes, who came to cheer him, and they were not happy with the judge’s decision too.
