Some say that Živi Zid’s economic ideas are too radical.
The coalition of Živi Zid, the Franak Association and Let’s Change Croatia party announced that media reports that they wanted to print money and use inflation to solve economic problems in the country were “deception and lies”, reports Index.hr on August 20, 2016.
“Such lies are being spread by those who are scared by our economic programme, which is aimed at protecting the middle class and regular people”, said Ivan Lovrinović, the president of Let’s Change Croatia party, at a press conference which was organized in order to react to accusations that they intended to financially destabilize the country.
He pointed out that the coalition was against printing of money, but added that they were also against current methods used by the Croatian National Bank, which they say is “neither the bank, nor is it national”. The financial system and banks will be used to promote the development of production, employment, entrepreneurs, crafts, and favourable loans denominated only in the kuna.
“We do not want monetary system that will after 20 years continue to promote commercial and speculative economy and those ten percent of companies which have been living for the last 20 years on the backs of ordinary citizens”, said Lovrinović. He said they would increase the non-taxable part of income to 5,000 kuna a month, while the minimum wage would be increased from current 2,600 kuna to 5,000 kuna within four years. “We are the only political option which has offered such specific solutions to strengthen the middle class”, said Lovrinović.
President of Živi Zid Ivan Vilibor Sinčić again criticized Croatian monetary policy in the last 20 years. “We want to deal with these problems and we already have certain results”, said Sinčić referring to the actions done by the Franak Association in the last year.
“We are therefore dangerous to them, and that is the reason why they use such insinuations. The other reason is the increase in support which can be seen in various polls”, said Sinčić and added that, in Croatia, the first place belonged to the manufacturing industries, development, people and employment, while the banks will have to be happy with the leftovers.
