After a 2.5 Hour Fight, the Largest Tuna in Croatia Has Been Caught

By 30 August 2016

The lucky Abyss Fishing Center is being praised for reeling in the largest bluefin tuna ever caught in Croatia. The enormous tuna fish weighed in at 340 kilograms and was 3 meters long.

The catch happened on July 29 in Rovinj by captain Ozren Božić who has been engaged in the fishing world for 15 years with his boat the "Abyss Fishing Charter" (length 9.5 meters). Božić also has a professional license for tuna fishing.

Only 12 ships in Croatia currently have this fishing license which is granted by the official institutions of the Republic of Croatia and ICCAT, the Intergovernmental Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas.

This catch would have not been possible without the help from Božić’s team members Patrik Džaja and Petar Bijuk who are also great lovers of the sea and big game fishing.

The tuna was caught about 10 nautical miles from the shore at around 7h in the morning. The good fight lasted 2.5 hours.
