Grammy Award Winner and Celebrated R&B Singer Comes to Croatia

By 3 October 2016

Macy Gray, best known for her international hit single "I Try", taken from her multi-platinum debut album 'On How Life Is', performs at Tvornica Kulture in Zagreb in March of 2017.

Recognizable by her husky vocals and being a definite queen of soul, Macy Gray will present the recently released album 'Stripped', debuting in the third spot on the Billboard Jazz album charts. Macy Gray performs at Tvornica on March 9, 2017.

'Stripped', which was recorded live in a church in Brooklyn in just two days, is a collection of 10 songs. With new songs such as “Annabelle”, a B.B. King inspired number, Gray’s new album also has a new version of the megahit “I Try” and “She Ain’t Right For You” which has added reggae overtones. Gray also covers the “Redemption Song” by Bob Marley and “Nothing Else Matters” which was originally written by Metallica.

Gray has released six studio albums, and received five Grammy Award nominations, winning one. She has appeared in a number of films, including Training Day, Spider-Man, Scary Movie 3, Lackawanna Blues, Idlewild and For Colored Girls.

"In an industry in which we began to miss the 'real artist', Macy Gray built her own vision, creating music that skips barriers from genres like experimental soul to alternative rock, and from retro disco to hip hop which is, of course, contributed to her 'hoarse' vocals. Her artistic integrity and innovation won her fans all over the world, including musicians like John Frusciante, Erykah Baku, Gang Starr, Mos Def and pharaoo Monche," states Jutarnji.

Tickets can be purchased at a price of 170kn, and at the door on the night of the show tickets will be 195kn. You can purchase tickets at Tvornica Kulture on Louis Posavskog 1, Aquarius CD shop on Varšavska 1, Dirty Old Shop on Tratinska 18, Rockmark on Berislavićeva 13 and eventim.hr.
