Željko Babić to Remain The Head Coach Of The Croatian Handball Team?

By 11 October 2016

Although he resigned after the Olympic Games, his resignation is to be refused by the Handball Federation board, according to Ivano Balić, and Babić might continue his work with the national handball team

According to the words of Ivano Balić, chief coordinator of national teams on October 10. 2016, Željko Babić’s resignation from the post of the head coach of the national handball team will be refused. Balić said that the decision should be confirmed at the next board meeting tomorrow.

According to Balić, there were no contacts with other candidates and Babić should continue his work at the post of the head coach.

At the same time, Zoran Gobac, theoretically the vice-president of the Croatian Handball Federation, but actually the alfa and omega of the Croatian Handball is not that sure of it. In his interview for Večernji List, he said that the opinions about Babić’s work among the members of the board are not unanimous.

He demands answers to four questions about Babić’s and Balić’s work: Why did Babić resign in the first place, why did he revoke the resignation, why did Balić not travel to Rio, and can Babić and Balić work together?

Also, the resignation Babić wrote was irrevocable, so the question is will he be ready to continue his work if he does not have the unanimous support of the board, as it was the main reason for his resignation.

Tough times for Croatian handball, caused by only one slip at the Olympics, but it seems that once again, we have athletes suffering because of the incompetence and private interests of the officials.

The talent and success of the team covered much of it in the past times, so one can only hope that there will be enough reason between the officials to ensure the best solution for the players in the future.

The meeting of the board is scheduled tomorrow, and TCN will bring you the full report about the matter.
