A 10 million euro investment has been put into Hotel Sipar in Umag for a hotel makeover, with the goal to invite in their first guests this May of 2017.
GlasIstre.hr reports that in early October, the construction began on the hotel Sipar in Umag, this year's largest investment for hotel house Istraturist. With their investment of 10 million euros, Istraturist will develop a newly renovated hotel with 236 rooms with common areas, restaurants, reception, swimming pool and sundeck. They expect that the works will be completed and in operation in early May of 2017.
“The new building will change the position of the hotel so that more than 80% of the rooms will have a sea view. The hotel will be complete with the beach and horticulture. It is an ecological project, and the facility will incorporate a system of so-called "smart rooms" to raise the level of energy efficiency,” says Director of Corporate Affairs of Istraturist, Arlen Brozić.

The hotel will have 4-stars and will be promoted under the brand Sol Melia Hotels International, changing the name of the hotel so that it will be "Hotel Sol Sipar".
“The hotel will be on the market positioned as a 'family hotel', designed for families with children who come to our destination on summer vacation. The project was developed by architectural firm Studio 92 from Labin, with the designer being Ester Miletić. The contractor is the company Quantum d.o.o. from Čakovec, which will be on-site depending on the period, working and engaging subcontractors with 200-300 workers,” said Brozić.
In the camp they plan on improving the accommodations to new and attractive glamping zones with a WIFI network that has a stronger signal and range. They will also continue working on the beach area and landscaping, concludes Brozić.
