By 21 October 2016

The Champions League trophy (on tour) has arrived in Zagreb via Osijek where it will spend the next two days, reports Index.hr. The trophy was brought by the legendary Manchester United player and Welsh National Team member, Ryan Giggs.

"Luka Modric is my favorite Croatian player, top class. I would enthusiastically accept him at Manchester United,” Giggs proclaimed.

Gigg’s Wales had a great run in France at the European championship this summer, with Bale and company playing in the historic semifinals, losing to the now champions - Portugal.

"My Wales was excellent, but you (Croatia) lacked a little luck. It seemed that you would go all the way. You have left a great impression and picked up a lot of sympathy in the UK."

Giggs has also gotten to interact with West Ham’s Slaven Bilic on many occasions. "Slaven had a great thing at West Ham last year. At present it isn’t going great, but I'm sure he will start to win again and play as last season.”

Giggs was in Zagreb for the first time 17 years ago as a player for United. The reigning European Champions met with Dinamo at Maksimir in the Champions League group stage in 1999.

"We got a 2:1, I remember well that game and the atmosphere in the stadium. Sir Alex Ferguson warned us that we are in Maksimir awaiting hell, they are very passionate fans and we need to silence them. I realized what he was talking about as soon as we got out into the field, they were very loud. I remember your fans.”
