A Record: 500,000th Passenger Arrives at Zadar Airport

By 27 October 2016

For the first time ever, Zadar airport achieved a turnover of half a million passengers on 26 October, 2016. The record in passenger traffic was celebrated by a prize given to the 500,000th passenger - the lucky Jelena Rukavina who was heading on a flight to Dublin.

For the first time in the almost 50-year history of Zadar Airport, the half a million passenger mark was achieved - marking a great success for the city of Zadar and the surrounding areas.

Zadarski List reports that Jelena Rukavina was the lucky passenger, and was awarded a prize including a return ticket on a Ryanair flight to the destination of her choice, a gift certificate to the duty free shop, and a bouquet of flowers.

The 25-year-old passenger was awarded by Irena Ćosić, director of the airport, who did not hide her delight as this was the first time in history the airport has record such results.

Jelena was pleasantly surprised by the award, and said that she would use the return flight home to Croatia.

“I travel, unfortunately, in one direction. For a year now I have lived and worked in Dublin and always travel from the airport,” said Jelena.

Jelena moved to Ireland, like many, moved "in search of money," and when asked the question of what life is like on the green island, Jelena replied, “it is good, but home is best.”

After the awards ceremony Jelena, along with the airport director Irena Ćosić, ceremoniously cut the cake prepared in her honor. Together, along with the employees of Zadar Airport, they celebrated.
