Eduardo da Silva, our favorite Brazilian-born, Croatian National Team footballer who played for Dinamo Zagreb from 2001-2007, maybe be flirting with a return back to Maksimir…
The 33-year-old deadly shooter Eduardo, perhaps known more commonly as “Dudu”, currently plays for Shakhtar Donetsk. With a contract running out in the winter and Dudu likely a free agent, he has confirmed over a telephone interview that a return back to Dinamo is not such a long shot, reports Vecernji List.
“My contract is expiring soon and I honestly will tell you that even I do not have any plans. I don’t think about it too much, now I’ll have a little more time to devote to the future. Shakhtar has not officially offered me a contract extension, but I heard that the club wants me to stay still. We'll see, I'll definitely talk to the leaders at Shakhtar, and in early December I will know what my future will be,” says Eduardo.
Is there a possibility of a return to Dinamo?
“I never said that I will not return to Maksimir! But I can not say at this moment that I will be back! Dinamo is my club, Dinamo created me and I never closed the door behind the 'blue'. Maybe I will talk with the leaders of Dinamo..."
When asked about his problems with Zdravko Mamić:
“Look, it is well known that I have recently had problems with Mamić, we were in court, but we have practically solved everything, we agreed. However, whether we have ironed out private disputes does not mean at the same time that I'll be right back in Maksimir, it should not be connected with each other. I'm ready, therefore, to talk with Dinamo, as well as with all the other clubs who contact me! It is logical that in this situation, when my contract expires , I must consider all offers that will be on the table.”
Dudu currently has no concrete offers, while there are plenty of stories and unofficial offers going round. But he does believe he has a few years left in him...
“I am convinced that at this, on the top level, I can play another year and a half to two years - to 35 years! And then we'll see, maybe I go back to Brazil or go to another country outside Europe, where it will not be so demanding. I will listen to my body, I will see what messages it sends me."
Dudu concluded that with him or without him on the Dinamo roster, he is confident that Dinamo will win the title.
