Lovren Asked to be Off National Team Roster for Upcoming Qualifying Matches

By 4 November 2016

Dejan Lovren has asked Ante Čačić to remove him from the Croatian National Football team roster ahead of the upcoming matches against Iceland and Northern Ireland, reports Jutarnji Sport.

The Croatian National Football team continues their qualification for World Cup 2018 on 12 November against Iceland in front of empty stands at Maksimir in Zagreb. The Liverpool center-back, who last week played a great game for Liverpool, has asked Čačić to spare him in the upcoming qualifying matches for Croatia.

“I talked with Ante Čačić and asked him to free me of these representative actions. Of course, I am still and always will be available for the National team matches, and I believe that with my good performance I will be invited to participate in the next representative actions. The reasons why I asked the coach to rid me of these actions I'll keep to myself," said Lovren.

Lovren's last last match for the National team was played in March against Israel for a friendly match.

Jutarnji Sport reports that a full interview with Lovren will be out tomorrow.
