Captain of the Croatian National Football team, Luka Modrić, who was added to the national team roster for the matches against Iceland and Northern Ireland, has trained with his teammates at Real Madrid on Saturday, reports Index.hr.
Although it was speculated that Modrić would be just about ready by the Madrid derby against Atletico Madrid on 19 November, it looks like Modrić will be making a comeback much quicker than we expected.
For the Real Madrid match on Sunday at the Bernabeu against Leganes, coach Zinedine Zidane has announced that he will use the Croatian midfielder.
"Our plan is to give Modrić a few minutes. It is important to know that everything is OK with him and that his knee fully recovered," said Zidane.
Modrić on Saturday was able to train for the entirety of the practice with his Real Madrid teammates, and was able to keep the same pace with the rest of the players.
Luka’s last match for Real Madrid was played on 27 September against Borussia Dortmund (2: 2) for a Champions League group game, which happened to be the game where Luka received the knee injury which kept him out for a month as he underwent surgery and recovery.
First place Real Madrid faces 17th place Leganes tomorrow at 12.00 (CET).
