According to data released by the Ministry of Administration, Croatia recognized 66 civil partnerships of the same sex in 2016.
Of the 66 civil partnerships, 35 partnerships were made between men and 31 partnerships were made between women.
Among them are 6 pairs of foreign nationals, while 24 of the couples were of mixed nationality, providing that one of them has Croatian citizenship, reports Lokalni.hr on February 7, 2017.
According to data released by the Ministry of Administration, most of the same-sex civil partnerships were recognized in the city of Zagreb who conducted 39 partnerships, followed by Istria County who conducted 8, Primorje-Gorski Kotar County who conducted 6, and Varazdin County who conducted 3 civil partnerships.
Two civil partnerships were recognized in Bjelovar-Bilogora County, Osijek-Baranja County and Split-Dalmatia County, and Lika-Senj County, Brod-Posavina County, Sibenik-Knin County and Vukovar-Srijem County each conducted one civil partnership.
The 2016 number is down from 2015 where official reports confirmed that 70 same-sex civil partnerships had taken place in Croatia.
Since the implementation of the Civil Partnership Act in August 2014, there have been 174 same-sex civil partnerships in Croatia.
