PHOTOS: Deep Purple Rocks Zagreb!

An expectant crowd at the Zagreb Arena was treated to an awesome two hour set as rock legends Deep Purple opened with ''Time for Bedlam'' to set the scene for a crazy night of classic rock.

Radiating their love for the music and the crowd, band members, led by the enigmatic Ian Gillan, Stebe Morse, Roger Glover and Ian Paice, played their hearts out on Tuesday evening at the Zagreb Arena.

The dynamic set included favourites from their very first album: Shades of Purple from 1968 to their latest album InFinite which was released just last month. They showcased the very best of this enduring English rock band.

Remaining true to their roots for almost fifty years, they entertained the packed arena with their musical skills, incredible guitar and piano riffs, rapport with the appreciate audience and their obvious pleasure at their ability to still enthral their worldwide audiences.

The four chord intro to ''Smoke on the Water'' raised the excitement bar even higher as arms and voices were raised with the crowd, joining in for this all time favourite as it was played to the accompaniment of a video backdrop of news clippings and footage of the 1971 fire at Montreux, which inspired the song, as well as live footage of the audience as they went wild.

Concluding with an encoure of three of their most enduring favourites, the band threw their drumsticks and picks into the crowd as they left the stage. Thanking the audience, Gillan said: ''You are amazing, we love you. Take it easy, bye bye!''
