Hajduk’s important Europa League match coincides with this year’s Ultra Festival at Poljud stadium, forcing the two organizations to reach an agreement.
The president of Hajduk, Ivan Kos, announced today that Hajduk and the organizers of this year's Ultra Festival have yet to reach an agreement, but that the negotiations are in the final stages, reports Dalmatinski Portal on June 26, 2017.
“I hope that we can find a common language. The contract has not yet been signed, but I hope that we can solve this problem. At the moment, the project itself is in the financial phase of negotiations. The problem is that we have to relocate the team to another stadium, which means we have to play a home game away, but we are ready to take a step back because of the general benefits and general good of Ultra. We know that the city benefits through catering and overnight stays and, at the national level, we believe that Ultra needs to be maintained,” said Kos.
The Ultra Europe music festival coincides with Hajduk’s crucially important Europa League match this year, forcing the fight for Poljud stadium. Kos hopes that next year Ultra will succeed in arranging dates differently so as not to have the same problems as this year. Kos did not want to talk about how much Hajduk would be financially damaged due to this year's Ultra Festival but commented on the good financial indicators in the club.
“I do not want to talk about any amounts. When we sign the contract, if we sign it in the direction in which we are negotiating, we should all be happy and satisfied,” added Kos.
Split-Dalmatia County representative Blaženko Boban added that the Ultra Festival is of vital importance for the tourism of Split and its surrounding areas.
“Already, almost all capacities have been filled, not only in Split, but also in the vicinity, from Trogir to Omiš, and we know that there are almost no accommodation capacities left. This shows the importance of the Ultra Festival for Split and its surroundings, and therefore the county,” concluded Boban.
Ultra Europe will be held from July 14-16, 2017, at Poljud stadium. Hajduk plays their first Europa League match at home on July 13, 2017.
