Chicago Tribune: 'Game of Thrones' Fans Flocking to Dubrovnik

July is fast approaching, cruisers are bringing tens of thousands of people to Dubrovnik, and it's no wonder that the city gets mentioned in foreign press at least once a day. The US sends some love to the Pearl of the Adriatic via Chicago Tribune with a piece on Dubrovnik as a perfect destination for 'Game of Thrones' fans.

"In the ancient city of Dubrovnik, hawkers sign up eager tourists for 'Game of Thrones' tours at the square near Pile Gate, the main entrance to the stone-walled Old Town that features prominently as King's Landing, the harbor capital of the mythical Seven Kingdoms of Westeros." writes Terri Colby of the Chicago Tribune.

According to the tour guides, a lot of visitors recreate scenes from the famous tv show – how often do you get to do this on location, and such a spectacular one at that?

It's hard to believe there's a single soul left that hasn't heard about Dubrovnik being a 'Game of Thrones' filming location, as the number of themed guided tours and GoT-related souvenirs can attest to. Nice promotion for the city, but one should hope the GoT frenzy won't lead to tourists seeing Dubrovnik only as a piece of set design. As Colby stated, "atop the city walls, spectacular views of the rocky coastline make any fantasy seem possible."
