Heat Wave to Peak Today

Meteoalarm has issued orange weather warnings for almost all regions

The heat wave that hit the country a few days ago will peak today, DHMZ says, with inland parts of Croatia being the hottest.

Sunny and hot with temperatures reaching 32 – 38 degrees Celsius, with lower temperatures in the hills. Extremely hot in central and eastern Croatia, where the temperature could reach 37 degrees Celsius. The highest temperatures are expected in Dalmatia, up to 38 degrees Celsius.

Temperatures in some areas of the country reached 30 this morning already – it was 30.2 degrees in Komiža at 7 a.m., 25 in Zagreb, 23 in Rijeka, and 27 in Split.

Make sure to stay hydrated and reduce the intake of caffeine, alcohol, and beverages containing sugar. Avoid spending time in the sun from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., especially if you’re a child, pregnant woman, older person, or a person suffering from a chronic illness. When using your air conditioner, make sure that the difference between inside and outside temperature is 5 degrees at maximum.

Meteoalarm has issued orange weather warnings (dangerous) for all regions except Gospić, where it's potentially dangerous (yellow).
