Good news for Medjugorje coming soon?
Just a few days ago, Pope Francis sent to Medjugorje Cardinal Ernest Simoni, who attended the 28th International Youth Festival. Speaking in front of the open-air altar of the Medjugorje church, where he saw 50,000 thrilled young people who came from all over the world, he said that it seemed to him that the sky had opened and that angels from heavens were coming down to earth, reports Večernji List on 6 August 2017.
Similar impression, as though angels were coming down from heavens, must have been felt by all those who heard words spoken by the Cardinal that, before leaving for Medjugorje, he went to ask for a permission and a blessing from Pope Francis. That was, in fact, the Pope’s blessing for Medjugorje as well. It was a sign of benevolence and goodwill of Pope Francis towards Medjugorje, whose status is expected to be settled soon.
If Pope Francis had until recently received information about Medjugorje only from its opponents, he could not have come to a good opinion. But, things do change, and a report from his personal envoy to Medjugorje came recently to the Pope’s desk.
Msgr. Henry Hoser spoke very positively about Medjugorje. According to rumours, he was quite hurt when he heard the Pope recently, while he was returning in a plane from Fatima, speak about the Lady of Medjugorje as some kind of postal worker who regularly brings messages.
There is little doubt that Pope Francis has now decided to send an optimistic message to Medjugorje. This has also been confirmed by Cardinal Simoni, who preached openly and without any hesitation about Our Lady's apparitions, explaining that pilgrims are coming to Medjugorje in order to find a way to Jesus through Mary.
This time, the Pope spoke about Medjugorje through the eyes of ordinary people, leaving aside great discussions and battles for and against Medjugorje. And this points to a conclusion that we are just one small step away from his final decision on the pontifical status of Medjugorje.
