The second generation of Rimac's electric supercars is just around the corner
The famous Croatian electric car producer Rimac Automobili announced they will unveil their second electric supercar in the first half of 2018, reported Autocar on September 20, 2017.
Monika Mikac, the operating officer at Rimac Automobili, stated the new EV will also be a two-seater, but a bit bigger than Concept One. Unofficially known as Concept Two, the new supercar will get branded under a different unique name before the launch.
According to Mikac, Concept Two will be more comfortable and more expensive than its predecessor, but also have a better performance than Concept One's 1224 bhp, 1180lb ft of torque and a 0-100 kmh sprint time of 2.5 seconds. Rimac is planning a production run of 100 units, with 20 of those supposed to be sold within the first year.
Once the standard coupé is launched, the company plans to unveil track and spider variants in the coming years. Mikac stated they are not planning to design a four-seater any time soon.
The new supercar will also be "in a league with Pagani, Koenigsegg and Bugatti", and will cost more than Concept One that currently goes for 1.1 million euro.
Even though they own their fame to supercars, Rimac Automobili make most of their revenue as a supplier of technological solutions for other car manufacturers; they produce batteries, propulsion systems and infotainment systems. At this point, the company produces 100 batteries a year, but intends to increase the number to 5.000-10.000 in near future.
