The Croatian capital has taken the title for two years in a row, can it do it again?
Once an entirely overlooked part of Croatia as far as tourism is concerned, Zagreb has come on leaps and bounds in the last few years as more and more tourists are drawn away from the Adriatic coast to discover Croatia's continental gems - the capital city being one of them.
For two years in a row, Zagreb has successfully turned itself into a winter wonderland and has deservedly been declared the most beautiful advent destination in Europe, with special regard to its incredible Christmas market. The capital of Croatia is now chasing the very same title for the third year running, and this year it is in competition with 24 cities who claim to also deserve that same more than flattering title.
Advent in Zagreb's program is set to last forty days, encompassing more than 300 rich and varied events, much like numerous other Croatian cities, Advent in Zagreb officially kicked off today with the burning of the first Advent Candle at Manduševac at 19:50.
