ZAGREB, January 20 - Bjelovar-Bilogora County Prefect Damir Bajs visited the Czech Association in Daruvar on Saturday ahead of Czech Language Month beginning on 22 January.
Most of the members of the Czech minority in Croatia live in Bjelovar-Bilogora County and their association is based in Daruvar. A lot of events are organised to promote and foster the tradition, culture and language of the Czech minority, and one of them is the Czech Language Month, which is taking place from 22 January to 21 February, Bajs said.
Czech Language Month is organised by the county with the participation of the Czech Association, the Jednota newspaper publishing house, Czech schools, the Central Library for the Czech Minority, Czech language advisers, teachers and students from the Czech Republic and others.
The event will formally start on Monday at noon in the Daruvar Public Library with an exhibition of 124 spelling primers from 44 countries from around the world, organised in cooperation with the Association of Esperantists from Bjelovar.
During the visit, Bajs presented the Jednota newspaper publisher with a donation of 10,000 kuna from Privredna Banka Zagreb.
