The Pearl of the Adriatic impresses on a grand scale, once again.
Dubrovnik has always been known as Croatia's tourist Mecca, but in recent years, partially owing to the rather rapid introduction of a lot of filming in the city, Croatia's southernmost city has shot to new heights of international fame, attracting tourists from all over the world for a wide variety of reasons.
Steeped in history and impressive culture, this former ''just a summer destination'' has shown its ease of adaptability to the world, transforming from the category of summertime Mediterranean getaway for other Europeans to much, much more than that, and on a global scale. A universe apart from other typically summer destinations across Europe, the unique UNESCO World Heritage Site is one of Croatia's most iconic cities, and it isn't surprising that this level of fame has seen its tourist figures increase, along with its impressive hotel offer.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 28th of January, 2018, in this, the 16th year of awarding hotels in various categories and regions, 8095 hotels in 94 countries were included.
Ten of the 25 most popular Croatian hotels according to the travelers ratings on TripAdvisor are located in Dubrovnik, the first is Villa Dubrovnik, the second is the aparthotel Tamaris from Tucepi, the third is Rovinj's Monte Mulin, followed by the Dubrovnik Royal Princess Hotel.
On the very same list sit two Zagreb hotels, the Esplanade Hotel at an impressive eight place, and DoubleTree at 20th place, Šibenik and Split both have one hotel each on the list, the D-Marin and Cornaro resorts. The placement on this list is significant as it is the TripAdvisor Travelers' Choice annual award, which is based on opinions and guest ratings from last year, and the awards are divided into ten categories, from luxury, to family, to cheaper holidays.
As mentioned, the Travelers Choice Awards were awarded in various categories and regions to 8095 hotels and guest houses across 94 countries in eight different regions, and the key criteria were the evaluation of quality, service and of course, value for money.
It seems Croatia's branding as the new tourism star of the European Union wasn't too far from the truth, and of course, Dubrovnik remains on top.
