With yet more kitsch additions, not everyone is happy with Marina Frapa.
Dubrovnik gets a new addition, and not everyone is all that happy about it. Marina Frapa has raised many an eyebrow over recent months, and it seems the newest addition to the project is set to raise a few more.
As dubrovniknet writes on the 31st of January, 2018, the new light show at Marina Gruž in Lapad has been met with numerous mixed responses from Dubrovnik locals. While some objected to the new instalment, it's difficult not to appreciate the hypnotic neon lights which fade and change from blue, yellow and green to pink and purple.
The local portal dubrovniknet contacted Marina Frapa's public relations office and upon their question as to what kind of lights will be in use, and whether or not it they will be on every day, the answer was that the lights and the colour changes are going through a test phase that will last for just several days. They will not be on every day, and on which occasions they will be hasn't yet been established, according to Marina Frapa's public relations office, no detailed plan has yet been agreed upon.
Dubrovnik's residents are, as always and as with almost everything that goes on in the city, greatly divided in their opinions, some are happy with the light-hearted, disco atmosphere on the sea, but for very many, this is simply the icing on a not particularly tasty cake, culminated in combination with kitsch, somewhat gordy looking lion statues at the entrance to the marina, a look simply not in line with the rest of the city.
It can only be hoped that besides the rest of the additions to Marina Frapa, Franjo Pašalić will not seek to add a giant disco ball for the ''perfect atmosphere''.
