„Off the Hook“ is Moran's first stand-up show after a three-year break and Croatian audience had the opportunity to see his previous act „Yeah, Yeah“ back in 2013. Critics are praising „Off the Hook“ and according to The Guardian „His comedy takes on an existential dimension, as tubby, nicotine-starved, emasculated Moran comes to represent the struggles we all wage for meaning and connection. Middle age is seen mainly in terms of its burgeoning fear of death. Life is reduced to only four stages: Child, Failure, Old and Dead“.

Labelled as the „Oscar Wilde of comedy“, both use humour as a way to dig at a deeper meaning about the human condition, he is best known for his role as Bernard Black in Black Books. Winner of two BAFTA TV awards for best situation comedy and the Bronze rose of Montreaux, his film career includes movies such as „Shaun of the Dead“, „Run Fat Boy Run“ and smaller roles in „Nothing Hill“ and „Calvary“.

Off the Hook is a show of two halves. In the first, the Moran of old surfaces, with amusingly angry rants about the state of world politics, the awfulness of modern television and the looming spectre of mortality. Considering that Moran does his homework, we can expect references for Croatian audiences so we cannot wait to hear what  thinks of our current situation.
