ZAGREB, February 4, 2018 - The Croatian Armed Forces and the national firefighting service are the winners of the national "Pride of Croatia" award for 2017 for their outstanding efforts in fire and flood protection.
Speaking at the award-giving ceremony in Zagreb, Defence Minister Damir Krstičević said that he was proud that the army was one of the two recipients of that prestigious award, recalling that last year it helped firefighters in the most difficult fire season since the country gained independence as well as in the removal of consequences of floods.
Croatian Armed Forces Chief-of-Staff Mirko Šundov received the award on the army's behalf.
The award, presented by the Pride of Croatia association, is conferred on individuals whose actions are marked by exceptional humanness and inspire others or have done something exemplary.
