Split, as in previous years, proved to be an excellent host city for the Porin Music Awards, and a full Spaladium arena is proof that the audience will once again be able to enjoy the best in domestic music.
The Jubilee 25th anniversary of the Porin Music Awards will be held on March 23, 2018, at Spaladium Arena. This is the fourth time that the award show has been held in Split, and the third time at Spaladium Arena, reports Dalmacija Danas on February 10, 2018.
For this year’s Porin awards show, 1645 entries were received, and the increase in the number of artists, albums, recordings and voting categories confirms that Porin is still the most important event of the Croatian music scene.
February 8 to 15, 2018, more than 1000 Porin voters will pick their favorites in domestic music in 35 categories for the first round of voting in this most prestigious Croatian music event. In these categories, voters will be able to choose from three songs, artists, or albums, except for the categories of 'Album and Song of the Year', where voters can select five. These are the two most attractive categories in the competition.
The most significant number of entries this year is in the ‘Song of the Year’ category for which 217 songs have been chosen, though great interest has also been shown for ‘Album of the Year’ where there are 83 album entries. 55 performers will compete for the best new Artist of the Year.
“After several months of work on the many applications received, through two rounds of voting, the final nominees will be decided regardless of the commercial position of the artist. Porin rewards those who deserved to be best with their albums, songs and performances during this election year,” said Secretary-General of the Republic of Croatia, Ivana Martinac.
The first round of voting for the nominated acts ends on February 15th at midnight. Applications for the 25th edition of the Porin Music Awards were received by November 24, 2017, and and the final nominated musicians will be known on February 22, 2018, at the nomination ceremony.
