Better Connections: Konavle Youth Want More Frequent Bus Lines Financed by EU Funds

By 16 March 2018

Konavle's youth display their proactiveness in their quest for more frequent public transport connections, financed by European Union funds.

As Dubrovacki Dnevnik writes on the 16th of March, 2018, as part of the preparation of the County Youth Program, a workshop was held for young people and people who care for young people and their various requirements and needs in the country's southernmost municipality, Konavle.

Students from elementary schools in Cavtat and Gruda participated alongside the Municipality of Konavle in the workshop which saw representatives of the youth associations, young members of political parties and young people from the area in general partake in discussion and the bringing together of ideas for overall improvement.

The workshop was led by Adriana Kremenješ-Daničić from the European House (Europski Dom) in Dubrovnik, an association that is a valued partner of the Konavle Municipality in this praiseworthy project. As has been done in previous workshops on the theme of the County Youth Program, there were several areas of importance for Konavle's local youth: education, employment, social protection and inclusion, health, the active participation of young people in society and culture, as well as young people volunteering.

Unlike the participants in workshops held in the Neretva and Pelješac valleys, Konavle's participants deem the biggest and longest-standing problem of young people in this part of Dubrovnik-Neretva County to be insufficient transport connections. As a solution to this problem, the co-financing of more frequent bus lines through the use of European Union funds has been mentioned, a subject which will be addressed by the competent administrative department of the Municipality of Konavle.
