ZAGREB, March 30, 2018 - The results of two programmes designed to modernise assistance to children with multiple developmental problems, worth 732,000 kuna (approx. 99,000 euro), were presented at the Special Hospital for Chronic Children's Diseases in Gornja Bistra, north of Zagreb, on Friday.
The programmes refer to changes in the care for children with serious impairments and are designed to enable their physical and mental progress, said Valentina Otmačić, head of the UNICEF Office in Croatia, which provided, with the help of donations from members of the public, 681,160 kuna for the two programmes.
The two programmes refer to the education of medical workers and the purchase of equipment needed in the care for children. The equipment will help in early childhood intervention to support children with impaired health and development, while technical equipment and adapted communication techniques will enable assisted communication for the youngest patients, the UNICEF Office said.
Attending the presentation of the programmes' results was also Health Minister Milan Kujundžić, who expressed confidence that the education of health workers and the new equipment would help improve the quality of health care for the most vulnerable groups of children.
