Roger Glover of Deep Purple to Play with Ibrica Jusić on Dubrovnik Steps?

By 11 April 2018

“A hundred times before I have been convinced never to say never, and the last time was when I spent time in Switzerland with Roger Glover – bass player, song author and producer”

“I also spoke with the famous musician of Deep Purple about our potential future musical cooperation,” says Dubrovnik chansonnier Ibrica Jusić, who was introduced to the legendary musician by Ibrica’s nephew Vanja, with whom Ibrica has been working with for some time. “I was more than surprised when Glover approached me in backstage after the show, saying he listened to my current album with pleasure. My nephew gifted the Harlekino album before we met,” explains Ibrica, who describes meeting the Deep Purple band member as especially pleasant, as Klara Rožman reported for Jutarnji List on April 11, 2018.

“All true musicians have a common language and understand each other well regardless of the music genre they prefer. Glover is no exception, he commended the production of Harlekino which was the work of Elvis Stanić, as well as my vocal and the atmosphere of the album. I used the opportunity to invite my new acquaintance to visit Croatia in the summer and discover the beauty of our land, inviting him also to visit me in Dubrovnik, on my steps, where I will sit and play for the 54th year in a row.”

“The entire story was very interesting to him. I would love for our time together to continue in Dubrovnik, and I can say it was a big thing for me to meet such an exceptional man and musician,” says Ibrica, who may be joined this summer by Roger Glover at his traditional concerts on the steps of Dubrovnik, along with Ibrica’s dog Bond. “Bond is accustomed to my concerts, he sits still while I sing, unlike my other pet, Kiki the cat, who sleeps at home or hotel while I sing. Cats are like that, fickle, but despite it the dog and cat are friends,” says Ibrica, who truly has a tough year ahead.

“In autumn I will tour theaters, and on November 11 I will perform in the Zagreb National Theater. There are also concerts in Opatija, Varaždin, Osijek, Split… There will be work, I look forward to it,” says the musician, who will also remember 2018 as the year when he became a grandfather for the first time.

“My son Kristijan and daughter-in-law Ana will become parents in a few weeks, and I will be the happiest grandfather in the world. They let me know it will be a son. May he be welcome! Honestly, it was irrelevant whether it is a grandson or granddaughter, I just care for everything to be in order,” says Ibrica, who will strive not to spoil his grandson too much.

“But I will push him to do sports, and if his parents allow, I will gift him a cat or dog as I feel it is important for children to fall in love with animals, with a condition of taking care of them. I will be glad if the young Jusić picks up the music gene from me and his father, so we can all sing together,” says Ibrica Jusić.
