By 22 April 2018

ZAGREB, April 22, 2018 - Book Night, an annual event promoting the culture of reading, will be organised in Croatia for the seventh time on 23 April, and this year the motto of the campaign will be "The Future of the Book".

Book Night 2018 will be held in 625 libraries and other institutions in 284 towns throughout the country.

Over 1,100 celebratory programmes include reading workshops for children, creative workshops, quizzes, theatre performances, public readings, film screenings, book launches, and meetings with writers.

As many as 188 primary schools and 26 pre-school institutions are joining in this year's campaign marking Book Night.

Some of programmes will take place in prisons, police stations, and institutions caring for children without parental care.

The National and University Library in Zagreb will host the launch of the programme on Monday.

Book Night in Croatia is held on 23 April to coincide with World Book and Copyright Day (also known as International Day of the Book or World Book Days), an annual event organised on 23 April by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), to promote reading, publishing and copyright.
