The wine made by young Korčula winemaker received 95 points at the Decanter World Wine Awards, the most prestigious international wine rating, while his Pošip Mindel from 2015 received a bronze and 89 points
This is the first time a Decanter gold medal is coming to Korčula and is an exceptionally important validation of the development direction of the Dalmatian wine industry set by the new winemaker generation, focused on indigenous varieties, modern approach and precise wine styles. In their Facebook post, the Nerica winery thanked oenologist Igor Radovanović as the “biggest promoter of Croatian wines” and sommelier Siniša Lasan “who recognized Nerica wines and suggested we send them to Decanter.” Lasan truly played an important role in animating Croatian winemakers to register their wines at the most important competitions and helped raise the number of awards for Croatian wines in the past years.
Plava Kamenica first wrote of Pošip Nerica two years ago: “Last year’s basic Nerica is a bigger success than the much more expensive Mindel. It has a rich scent, is strong, warm, essentially Dalmatian and at the same time optimally pure and fresh. The combination of abundance and hot island terroir on one and freshness and purity on the other, makes Nerica 2015 a model for mass production of good Pošip wines, just like a dozen years ago Coronica and Kozlović modelled the style of Istrian Malvazija.”
The following harvest of Pošip Nerica was just awarded at DWWA, confirming this impression with a bigger elegance and unusual freshness for Dalmatian white wines. It is one of the most modern and most precisely made Dalmatian white wines we have ever tasted.
